Math Eyes – Monthly Math Curiosity Challenge
See it. Wonder about it. Think it. Connect it !
Calling all curious students from Grade 4 to Grade 8!
Do you enjoy spotting patterns, asking interesting questions, and thinking deeply about Mathematics?
Join Math Eyes, a monthly event designed to spark your curiosity and help you think like a mathematician.
What is the Math Eyes Challenge ?
Every 15th day of the month two prompts are published:
One Number Prompt
One Picture Prompt
Your Mission
You can respond to either one or both prompts by sharing your ideas under any of the below three sections.
1)
Notice
What do you observe?
Look carefully and identify:
- Number patterns
- Shapes, colours or arrangements
- Arithmetic or geometric relationships
- Any other interesting observations
2)
Wonder
What questions come to your mind?
For example:
- What happens if a number is changed?
- What if the shapes are rearranged?
- What if the operations are different?
- Can this idea be extended further?
There are no wrong questions—curiosity is the key!
3)
Think
Can you connect your wonder question to Mathematics?
- Which mathematical concept relates to your question?
- Can you test your idea?
- Can you make a prediction or arrive at a conclusion?
You may submit:
- Only Notice, or
- Only Wonder, or
- Only Think, or
- Any combination of the three.
What Students Get
Your ideas matter!
All student submissions will be compiled and published on our website, giving participants an opportunity to:
- Share their mathematical thinking with a wider audience.
- Learn from the observations and questions of other students.
- Inspire and be inspired ideas shared by fellow young students.
